Prime minister visits London pharmacy

PM Andy Burnham with Green Light Pharmacy team (National Pharmacy Association)

Prime minister Andy Burnham visited a branch of Green Light Pharmacy in London yesterday to mark the forthcoming expansion of Pharmacy First.

He was met by superintendent pharmacist Sanjay Ganvir, who explained how pharmacies help the Government and patients “get the best value from medicines,” reported the National Pharmacy Association.

The NPA said: “Pharmacies can do so much more to provide accessible health services to patients, without the need for them to visit their GP.  It was great to see such enthusiasm from the prime minster for this shift.

“Much more investment is needed to turbo-charge the pharmacy network’s contribution to health in every neighbourhood.”
